Here is a body scrub I have made as gifts, its gentle enough for most skin types, but if you have sensitive skin or any allergies, it's always a good idea to patch test the scrub on a small area of your skin before applying it all over your body. Have fun, and don’t be shy to be as creative as you’d like to be, and best of all, be curious!
- 1 cup of granulated sugar (you can also use brown sugar for a gentler scrub)
- 1/2 cup of coconut oil (melted)
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of oatmeal or cornmeal
Optional: Ground coffee or your favorite tea leaves
- a few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance (such as lavender, citrus, or vanilla)
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and melted coconut oil. Mix well until the sugar is fully coated and the mixture has a paste-like consistency.
2. Add the honey to the mixture and stir until well incorporated. The honey will provide additional moisturizing and antibacterial properties.
3. If desired, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the mixture for a delightful fragrance. Stir well to distribute the fragrance evenly.
4. Transfer the body scrub into a clean and airtight container for storage.
5. To use, apply a small amount of the scrub to damp skin and gently massage in circular motions. Focus on areas that need exfoliation, such as elbows, knees, and feet. Rinse off thoroughly with warm water.
6. Pat your skin dry and follow up with your favorite moisturizer to lock in the hydration.
Next, why not create your own lip balm using easy to find ingredients. The most important thing is to have FUN while you’re doing it!
- 1 tablespoon of beeswax pellets
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon of shea butter
- Optional: a few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance (such as peppermint, lavender, or citrus)
1. In a heat-safe container or double boiler, melt the beeswax pellets, coconut oil, and shea butter together. You can use a microwave or heat the mixture on the stove using low heat.
2. Stir the mixture well until all the ingredients are fully melted and combined.
3. If desired, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for a pleasant scent. Stir well to distribute the fragrance evenly.
4. Carefully pour the mixture into small lip balm containers or empty lip balm tubes. You can find these containers online or at your local craft store. But better yet, recycle a used lip balm container or small jar if possible.
5. Allow the lip balm to cool and solidify completely. This may take a couple of hours.
6. Once solidified, your homemade lip balm is ready to use!
To use, simply apply a small amount to your lips whenever they feel dry or chapped. The combination of beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter will help moisturize and protect your lips. Enjoy the natural goodness of your homemade lip balm!
Note: Be sure to store your lip balm in a cool place to prevent it from melting. If you prefer a softer or harder lip balm consistency, you can adjust the amount of beeswax accordingly.
